Club XI — the playable archive of every English football club

Privacy

The short version: the archive collects nothing about you. If you allow advertising, Google does. You are asked first, and refusing is a real option that changes what loads.

What this site is

Club XI is an archive of match records for 94 English and Welsh football clubs, with a game built on top of it. It is run by one person, not a company, and there is no account to create and nothing to log in to.

What the site itself collects

Nothing. Each club's page is a single file that arrives complete. There is no server-side code, no database, no analytics, no tracking pixel and no third-party request of any kind unless you allow advertising.

The team you pick, your results and your preferences are kept in your own browser's local storage. They stay on your device, they are never transmitted, and clearing your browser data deletes them. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means there is no way to recover them if you clear it.

Advertising

This site can show advertising from Google AdSense. It is off until you allow it. If you do, Google may set cookies and use them to choose what to show you and to measure whether it worked. That is Google processing your data, not this site: what they do with it is described in how Google uses information from sites that use their services.

If you refuse, no Google code is requested at all — the advertising slots stay empty and everything else works exactly as before. You can change your mind at any time from the cookies page.

Server logs

The site is served by a commercial web host, which keeps standard access logs — typically the page requested, the time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. That is how web hosting works and it is not something this site switches on or can read for you. The host processes it under its own terms.

Where the data in the archive comes from

The match and player records are compiled from public sources: Wikipedia, the Football Association's own results archive, the engsoccerdata results set, and a number of club-run statistical archives which are credited on the pages they contribute to. It is a record of football matches, not of people who visit.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights over personal data held about you. This site holds none, so there is nothing here to request, correct or erase. For the advertising cookies, the controller is Google and their policies apply. For server logs, it is the web host.

Children

There is nothing here aimed at children and no way for anyone to submit information.

Changes

If the site starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first. The date below is when it was last accurate.
